Journal Layout for Murasaki99

Journal Entry: Sat Sep 12, 2009, 8:48 PM

New CSS for *Murasaki99

Let me know what you think, if you like it, all of that jazz. Custom layout for *Murasaki99 who won a contest prize but I couldn't tell you whose contest now. Go figure.

So, I tried to make an easier to use layout. No div classes for textboxes or anything, so you are limited to left-hand alignment on main journals and centered alignment on the content boxes. If you want it changed, I can add classes to the code that will allow you to specify how you would like your text aligned. You do need to use a div class for the the main headline. Type in the following div class code titled "headline." You will use something similar for both the content box, and the title bar in that box. Here's the three codes:

<div class="headline">Headline Name Here</div>

<div class="contentbox">
<div class="title">Content Box Title Here</div>

Make sure you remember to close your content box div class with this code: </div>

The menu at the top is pretty simple. You'll open a div class titled "menu" just like the previous classes, then include your links. If you don't know how to name a link, it's super easy and I'll show it after this paragraph. I do not know why the image moves over the side of the right edge of the journal box. I think it's a glitch in deviantART's code, because nothing is adjusting it like it should be. If you don't like it at all, I can change it to a solid color or remove it completely. Anyways, named link code:

<a href="entire url here">URL Name</a>

Content Box

These are fun little boxes for extra info, features of your work, recent favorites or artists you want to bring attention to. As such, everything in this box is centered. Again, if you want the ability to choose and adjust, I can add the code to do that. You will just need to start a div class for each text section between titles. It's how I do my personal journals, because I like the ability to choose.

Anyways, the background image here is set up to repeat indefinitely. It's always kind of fun to set that up, and it worked well to incorporate that image that didn't quite mesh with the other colors. If you really like this box, I've seen people use this for most of their main journal content. However you want to use it! :D

Well, I don't think there's much else you need to know. As I said, I'm trying to make these easier to use. Feel free to contact me with comments, questions, changes or additions and I would be happy to oblige! Changes or additions would include anything that you have seen in any other journal of mine. If you see something you really like in another journal, I can probably figure out how to incorporate it. I am flexible and I do want this to be a journal that you will like. So . . . yeah. Note me, comment, or email me at aryenne@gmail.com. Whichever works best for you.

 It is just gorgeous, thank you SO much!!

I love how you worked the cloud images in with the background colors, it just looks so excellent.

And yup, I'd rather just have the "boxes" be full length rather than scrollable - scrolling doesn't work too well on an iPhone, and I do check DA with it. :boing:

W00t!

I am so happy you like it! I don't use scrolling boxes much either. Not my style, really. I tend to browse up and down a page with the keys on the keyboard instead of the mouse. It's easier for me. :aww:

It seems like a lot of people don't really use them. I still have the code, to add it in for anybody who wishes to use it! I still need to make you one too. I don't remember, you haven't sent me any pictures to do one, have you?

I got my images with my cell phone... during lunch at work I stepped out and saw the lovely clouds and took a few snaps. If you have a cell with a camera, that might do? :)

Hee-hee, what a terrible problem - I cheated by asking Aryenne to use a couple of my photos and not just one. :D
